Jharkhand Economic Survey 2024-25

  • Hemant Soren Government on 28 February 2025 tabled the Jharkhand Economic Survey (JES) 2024-25 stating that the gross state domestic products (GSDP) would register a growth of 6.7% at constant prices in the financial year (FY) 2024-25. The GSDP growth projection for FY 2025-26 is 7.5 %.
  • The report stated, “The economy of Jharkhand has grown steadily in the last three years. The GSDP which was Rs 1,50,918 cr at constant prices in 2011 is expected to double by the end of current financial year.”
  • The report said that the GSDP of Jharkhand as a percentage of the national GDP has improved in the last five years from 1.54% in 2019-20 to 1.56% in the year 2023-24.
  • Per capital income (PCI) of the state is estimated to be Rs 1,14,271 in FY 2024-25 and Rs 1,24,079 in 2025-26 at current prices. The PCI was 1,05,274 in 2023-24. Even as the PCI has grown in the past years, Jharkhand ranked 26th amongst the 28 states.
  • Poverty in Jharkhand dropped from 42.10% in 2015-16 to 28.21% in 2019-20.
  • Fiscal deficit has also remained within the FRBM (financial responsibility and budget management) limits.
  • The total value of mineral production in Jharkhand as of March 2024 stood at approximately Rs 75,358 crore, underscoring the state’s rich reserves of coal, iron ore, and bauxite, it said.
